How does this compare to other treatments?
Laser: GentleMax, GentleMaxPro, GentleYAG, Elite, Apogee
These are all solid-state lasers and are now considered older technology. They do work, but they are considerably more painful, have more risks due to inefficient or potentially toxic skin cooling methods.
Wavelengths: 755nm Alexandrite (Skin Types 1-3 ONLY) – Dangerous on dark skin· 1064nm Nd: YAG – Safe for all skin types, but inefficient on light skin. YAG is the most painful wavelength, and requires the most treatments to reach an endpoint.
Vectus, LightSheer, Soprano ICE, These are more current devices, but are inferior in one way or another
Wavelengths: The Soprano ICE device uses filters to tune their device to more closely mimic Alexandrite and YAG. It is not efficient in doing so – this is a marketing gimmick.
The Vectus and ICON MaxR uses a “melanin reader” to automatically adjust and gives the illusion of a catered treatment. This is also a marketing gimmick, it's not very accurate or reliable.
The Lightsheer family does not cool the skin with the largest spot size, instead opting for a suction coupling effect to distract the patient from discomfort. This is ineffective for most, and slows the treatment down considerably while increasing risk of burns.IPL Hair Removal·
Elos, Icon (MaxR), Sciton Jouleo IPL Hair removal is NOT Laser Hair Removal. Filters are used to mimic true laser wavelengths. They are not, and will never be as effective as a true laser.
Waxing: Waxing needs to be done several times during the year. If a patient is consistent with waxing, they could save a significant amount of money once they make the switch to Laser Hair Removal.
